There’s something powerful about giving. Not the performative kind, not the kind that needs recognition, but the simple, human act of offering what we can.
We often underestimate how much it matters. A kind word. A hot meal. A small donation. A moment of presence. It might seem small to us, but it could mean everything to someone else.
Giving isn’t about having extra. It’s about sharing what we already have time, attention, care, energy and doing it with sincerity.
1.Giving from the Heart
At Govinda Valley, giving is at the heart of all we do. The Sanskrit term for this is ‘seva’. We delve into this in a lot more detail through our courses but here’s the 2-minute rundown. True seva is done from the heart, as an offering. You're not serving to feel good, look good, or be thanked. You serve because it's right. Because you can. Because it connects you with love. It’s not about martyrdom or over-giving. It’s about showing up with humility and sincerity and letting the action itself be enough.
Giving is abundance in action.
2.Giving shifts stagnant energy
When we feel stuck, closed, or heavy, giving can shift the energy. It reminds us that we are not isolated. It helps us reconnect. It gets us out of our heads and back into the flow of life.
When we give, we remember that we have something to give. That alone can shift our perspective from lack to abundance. When we feel stagnant or heavily self-focused, giving can open a door. It interrupts the spiral of overthinking or isolation and moves us into connection and flow. It redirects our awareness from what’s missing to what’s possible ... from me to we.
Even a small act- making someone a cup of tea, checking in on a friend, offering your time without needing anything in return, can soften the grip of stuck emotions. It creates movement, warmth, circulation. What was closed begins to open.

3.Giving helps us feel our abundance Often, giving naturally leads to gratitude. Not because someone thanks us, but because it reminds us of what we have ... the ability to offer, to support, to love.
When we give freely, we affirm a powerful truth: there is enough.
So often we’re conditioned to believe in scarcity, that we have to hold on tightly to our time, our energy, our resources. But true giving comes from a different place. It comes from a sense of inner fullness. A quiet confidence that says, I have what I need, and I can share it.
This doesn’t mean we need material wealth to give. In fact, some of the most generous acts come from those who have little, but give with great love. Abundance isn’t about quantity... it’s a state of being. A mindset that sees life not as something to hoard, but as something to participate in, contribute to, and nourish.
When we live from abundance, giving feels natural. It’s not about sacrifice. It’s about overflow. We give because we trust that we’re supported. That what flows out will return, not necessarily in the same form, but in the right way, at the right time. Giving in this way reinforces abundance, in our lives, in our communities, and in our hearts.
The more we give, the more we realise how much we truly have. We become a gift to everyone around us at any time. That, fellow friends, is true success.
So yogis, let's keep the wheel giving flowing... Much love
